I have always enjoyed capturing and sharing special moments and memories on film. I learned some photography basics in classes many years back, but after recently borrowing my sister’s Canon DSLR for a friend’s photo shoot, I decided I wanted to pursue photography as a hobby. I spent a few days researching online and asking photographer friends for the best entry level, high quality DSLR to get started. It was down to two cameras, Nikon D3200 or Canon Rebel T5i. Both comparable in price, but the stats and user reviews had me sold on the Nikon. It apparently also sold my husband too, because he surprised me with the camera along with multiple accessories as a Christmas gift. It didn’t take long for me to take my new toy out for a test run. Days after getting my camera, I took several photos while visiting family in Southern Utah. The Nikon D3200 is light weight and easy to learn. I love my new camera and I look forward to sharing the results of my new hobby (obsession). Below are some of my favorite photos I’ve taken with my new Nikon D3200.

So, after 6 months with my new Nikon D3200, my husband surprised me with an upgraded camera for Mother’s Day. The Nikon D7100 and a new lens, Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4. I look forward to trying out my new camera and lens.
I ended up purchasing another new lens, 50 MM 1.8 and I love it. I have been busy taking family and friend portraits since and have additional bookings in the coming months. I created a Facebook photo page. Take a look: Churchill Photography.
